The Crown Chakra

The Crown chakra is the symbol of purity and spirituality. It's our highest energy center, both in terms of physical location and rate of vibration. It represents liberation, bringing great knowledge, deep understanding, inner wisdom, and a connection to the highest state of enlightenment and spiritual growth. It represents union with the higher self, the cosmos, the Divine.

This center balances all the others, however, it can't be activated until all the other chakras are refined and balanced. It is all-pervasive in its strength and power. It affects the development of psychic abilities and spiritual attainment.

The Crown chakra is the source of divine energy and self-realization. Attuned, it opens us to divine energy and we can gain total access to the unconscous. We can transcend the laws of nature, and become the "miracle worker". This chakra is apiritual, faithful, peaceful, refined, joyful, grateful, with a great love of beauty. It's about wisdome and being one with the world. It's associated with perfection, eternal knowledge, peace of mind and body. This is the chakra through which many people leave their bodies while astral travelling, and it's the center that can be used when "drawing down the Moon" during Circle.

The Brow Chakra may be activated at any time, though we usually focus on it between the ages of 26 and 30, again between 56 and 60, and then between 86 and 90 years of age. In some people it opens spontaneously even in childhood, and in others it hardly develops at all. Usually we need to make a conscious effort to open and develop this center.

LOCATION (on the body):on the top of the head and slightly to the back; the location of a baby's "soft spot".

COLOR associated with it:violet or white

ELEMENT:Thought / Cosmic energy

SENSE:This chakra is beyond senses

PHYSICAL AREAS OF THE BODY AFFECTED: This chakra governs the upper skull, cerebral cortex, skin, pineal gland, right brain, right eye, pituitary gland, nervous system, right side of the face, muscular and skeletal system.

INFORMATION STORED IN THIS CHAKRA:relates to your values, ethics, and controlling patterns.

This chakra is RULED BY The Universe / Cosmos

POSITIVE QUALITIES:would include compassion, focus, trust, wisdom, faith, inspiration, spirituality, being unprejudiced, self-sacrificing in the service of others, and idealistic; self-knowledge, positive intellect, happiness, bliss.

WHEN HEALTHY - There's a connection to cosmic consciousness, spiritual wisdom, a connection to the Divine. You can plan your life and handle the daily trials and tribulations that life throws at you. You have fulfillment of your true destiny, access to the subconscious and unconscious realms. You radiate love and peace.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: would include lack of puropse, unhappiness, indecision, closed-mindedness, no concern for others, feelings of superiority, lack of contact with reality, boring, aimlessness, fear and egotism.

WHEN OUT OF BALANCE, DEFICIENT, OR BLOCKED - you may suffer from obsessive thinking, depression, confusion, learning difficulties, limited beliefs, and/or materialism. Life becomes stagnant and meaningless. You may have intensely erotic fantasies, feelings of shame, low self-esteem, and self-denial. You could be cold and unfeeling, frigid, frustrated with the world, unaware of your spirituality, and feel misunderstood. There's an inability to see the bigger picture, you make unwise decisions, compare yourself to others, and are afraid of death.

WHEN OVER-ACTIVE - You are overly intellectual, feel alienated, experience spiritual addiction to the point of neglecting your bodily needs. You need sympathy, need to feel indispensable. You have an extremely erotic imagination, disconnected from reality, overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of every-day life.

COMMON ADDICTIONS -psychotropic and mind-altering drugs, material things

PHYSICAL DYSFUNCTIONS of the Crown Chakra could include sensitivity to light and sound, cerebral tumors, cranial pressure, Parkinson's disease, senile dementia, alzheimer's, dizziness, bone cancer, multiple sclerosis, frequent migraines, alcohol abuse, sensitivity to pollutants, chronic exhaustion, epilepsy, skin problems.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:to help determine if this chakra needs clearing/recharging:

1. Do you have a sense of being called to do healing, or be involved in some mystical art?
2. Do you want to have a direct, ever-present connection with Deity?
3. What guidance have you sought during meditation or prayer?
4. Do you bargain with the Divine? Do you complain to the Divine more than you express gratitude?
5. Are you devoted to a particular spiritual path? If not, do you feel a need to find one?
6. Do you expect the Divine to give you an explanation for your painful experiences?
6. Are you afraid of a closer relationship with the Divine because of changes it might trigger in your life?

Depending on your answers to these questions, you might want to spend a little time each day focusing on the Brow Chakra to help you balance out your physical/emotional bodies.

Some things that may help you to become balanced are using colors, crystals, and gemstones, herbs, oils, etc. with your meditation or other chakra work. I have included a little information on these below.

COLOR:
To open your Brow Chakra, try wearing or using purple, violet.

To tone it down or balance it, try wearing or using some white.

MUSIC/SOUNDS:Silence.

GEMSTONES:

To strengthen this chakra use amethyst, purple flourite, sugalite.
To balance this chakra use clear quartz, moonstone.
To tone down this chakra use light citrine, golden topaz, light amber, sunstone.

Some stones for specific work with this chakra are the:

- Amethyst is a teacher of all things.
- Clear calcite brings spiritual understanding to problems on the earth plane.
- Clear quartz helps to get in touch with hidden, invisible within and without, helps us develop deep wisdom from within.
- Danburite helps us view what happens in our lives from the soul perspective and have a feeling of calmness and serenity even when life seems very difficult.
- Herkimer Diamond has a particular ability to dissolve chakra blockages.

HERBS associated with the Crown Chakra: Rose, lavender, lotus, yarrow

FRAGRANCES/OIL/INCENCES: Amber, frankincense, oakmoss, lotus, juniper, rose, rosewood, pine, yarrow, geranium, sandalwood, myrrh

AFFIRMATIONS:

- I am at peace with myself.
- I am empowered by the strength of my body.
- I am balanced between earth and heaven.

SOME ACTIVITIES TO AWAKEN/BALANCE:the Crown Chakra:

- Silent meditation.
- Chanting.
- Conscious breathing.
